I don’t know about all of you but The World Cup craze has been going around the office for quite some time now. Guys that can barely drag themselves to work on time are getting up and going out to watch games at the crack of dawn. I grew up in a really small town and we never had soccer so I know absolutely nothing about the sport. I didn’t exactly get what a big deal it was…until this weekend. I took a little road trip to a baseball game in Kansas city. KC had a huge World cup watch party where thousands of die hard soccer fans showed up to stand in 100 + degree heat to watch the USA game. Most of them had painted faces, some of them had painted bodies, but they all had a common interest. The place was absolutely crazy and even a casual fan couldn’t help but get excited. Even at the baseball game there crowds of people gathered around the concourse to watch the soccer game instead of the game being played on the field. When the USA team scored the crowed erupted and I’m sure half the people in the stands were wondering what was going on.
I may not have a clue what’s going on during the game or have the schedule memorized, but what I do know is that it’s important to show your team spirit.
